What type of handset is this?

Got my hands on this randomly about a year ago, picked it up for around $50 at an estate sale.

I know it is WW2 German as it has waffenampts on it.

Clearly its a radio handset, but what was its purpose, its an odd shape.

Also current market value would be nice to know

The strange shape allows it to be used when wearing a helmet.

HAP 2, or Handapparat 2. In english Hand device 2.
Was used on a remote radio cable spool on forward defence posts. You can find them now and then, I found mine on the flea market. Yours has replaced plugs. These ar normal plugs like on the doppelfernhorer model A. De HAP 2 uses very low profile plugs like on the doppelfernhorer model f, used on the field radio's. These short plugs alows to plug the Hap 2 in and close the lid of the radio or the chest with the cable spool.

Value in Holland, I saw them on different dealer sites arond 250 to 350 euro's. In good condition (with original plugs).

      best regards Sven
