    Kriegsmarine headset

I have this Kriegsmarine headset and I was wondering if anybody had any information or a period photograph of this specific type in use. It has a peculiar "horn" as a microphone mouthpiece, with the actual microphone situated near the earpiece. It has the typical Kriegsmarine 4-pin plug:

    <a href="http://s672.photobucket.com/albums/vv86/Funksammler/?action=view&amp;current=DSC03491.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv86/Funksammler/DSC03491.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

    Close up of the headset:

    <a href="http://s672.photobucket.com/albums/vv86/Funksammler/?action=view&amp;current=DSC03493.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv86/Funksammler/DSC03493.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

It was made by Siemens and Halske, presumably the model number is "C42a". It is 1944 dated:

    <a href="http://s672.photobucket.com/albums/vv86/Funksammler/?action=view&amp;current=DSC03492.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv86/Funksammler/DSC03492.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

It also has the jackplug socket for the gas mask microphone. Presumably the neck strap of the switchbox is missing.

Has anybody got more information on this type?

    regards,

    Funksammler

i never see KM specific marking on the FF33 yellow band , nor on the headsets .
for FS your C42a is slightly different from mine , the horn is longer , mine has a shorter one , it's also stamped C42a 203/01600 1944 except the horn it's the same , it 's for FF33 KM yellow band , but i remember to have seen
pictures on s*boote looking same , also gunners of a coastal or land batterie
, the battery was not in bunker , the gun was with a half shield .

I agree witth Tornfute, these headsets do not have Kriegsmarine Eagles or specific navy markings. They stand out because the KM was the only service to use these types of heavy headsets, and the only service to use the typical round four-pin plug. Come to think of it, I can't remember seeing KM stamps on any navy radios. Why so obsessed by KM markings?

Usually all KM equipement is well marked with eagle/M markings, I have already a observed three FF33 with KM ink stamp on the inside of the cover and radio equiment with KM markings (ink and/or stamped in the metal). All of these were imo undoubtfull originale peices. On most naval communication transceivers/transmitters there are indeed no naval markings, but I was surprised by the absence of a marking on the headset. The one I pictured here http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...t=kriegsmarine
has a KM marking, and I wanted to compare it with other similar KM headsets, no luck so far, but I keep on searching and waiting, that is the fun of collecting, isn't it?

About those markings it will be interesting to post picture , this afternoon it was raining
and i check items , usually they are no marking in radio transmitters , i have seen such on samos ( left side ) , i open my Fano and found one on left side it's an eagle and M then right
a letter it's stamped inside alu of front panel ,
i check my KM 33 and found no marking in cover or elsewhere i did'nt open inside
an ink marking can with years go away , but not on all ,
summary , on FF33 and headphones , i found nothing , on extension cable with the
telefon 5 pins plug i found on some an stamp Rev 62 from siemens i think , and
on some a black ink naval marking M eagle and letter right , but not on all
                  i will post pictures

about the KM33 i have solded , changed at least 20 extension cables , but only 4
cables are with a naval mark the other of same batch wear nothing , so i think
it's not a rule , but occasionally they are marked , and it's also for the headphones or telephone , , anyway it's like this .
