    Battery box identification

I just got this battery box, and wanted to know if anyone has recognized it. The photos are not the best, but good enough for identification.

The lid open. Inside the lid is the battery designation.

                Gentlemen,

Could you help me?? I am rather confussed!!

Heimal lists the Torn. Fu. a2 (appears to be misprinted as b) on page 108 with a "KDI Handgenerator - Tornister 3V, 4V, 70V, 139V"

TM 30-451: Battery table (figure 49, page 454) lists a 2-2.4 volt battery, handcrank charger (HL.Sa) for 2-2.4 volt storage batteries.

These appears to be the same----Handladezatz (HJS a)???

What is "KDI" an appreviation for?

What is actually abbreviation for Handladezatz --HJSa or HLSa??

                Richard

I don't think they are the same, the Torn.Fu.a / b are designs from the mid 1930's, the HLSa was probably first issued around 1942, if not later.

The early Torn.Funks would use the 4.8 NC 10 before the 2 B 38 batteries came in use with the 1937 generation equipment. The new 2.4 V NC batteries only came in use from about 1940.

                  regards,

                  Funksammler
