223 Radio Car at Patton Museum

I recently attended the Patton Museum 65th anniversary event at Fort Knox Kentucky. They had a Kfz 223 radio car on display. It was the first time it was on display since the '70s. Other than a fresh coat of paint, it hasn't changed since the '70s.

When it arrived at the museum in December of '46, it was missing the wheels and the turret. The current wheels are from a GMC CCKW and the tires are 9x20. They are oversized as the originals were 7.5 x 20s. The turret was recently acquired in Europe and is just sitting on top. The antenna is original but it has been reassembled because it was cut into 6 pieces. The crank still works to lift it up and the radio racks are still in place.

I was hoping to get more pictures but the weather prevented it.

Here are the few pictures I did get.

It was an early T-Mobile (Deutsche Telecom) prototype.
