Very nice hat however I would check to see if the wreath got replaced as the position on the hat band is distractingly crooked and the chinstrap is perhaps replaced and all but ruined in the process. Some day in the future it will suddenly become a nice officer's hat I predict! If this thread is preserved it might delay or prevent that.Comment

The thing on the inside of the sweat band is the ink stamp size marking 57. It appears to me the wreath is original, but I cannot tell if it is a replacement. How can I see if it was a replacement?Comment

The wreath looks to be an original. What I did not clearly state is that the wreath appears to be reattached in a crooked position and look to see if there are holes where it would line up better on the cap band.Comment

No it is not glue. Just some "fuzz" from age, and granted the photo is not very clear.
