Forgive me, but "7" is an English/US hat size. Is there any evidence of another number before that ("5"?).

There are way too many things about this hat I don't like. Super thin piping, visor material, sweatband, bow, sweatband stitching ect. Not one I would like to own. Just my honest opinion.

That very thin piping is seen on Low Countries produced caps. I think is original.

Is that a three pronged skull?

I was thinking the same, also the eyes look like a mis strike.

You noticed that too! Good eye! The hat could be real but I don't think it is....I personally think its a 1970s fake. Just my opinion...

Of course this is far from being a standard cap but I was told this be a cap manufactured in Belgium. What do you think?

I have a similar cap (which was bought in Belgium some 30 years ago) of evident non-German make, which displays similar features, namely the thin piping and the dark-brown, thick and supple sweatband. You may want to look at teh bottom of http://www.military.be/blog/2007/08/page/4/ and notice the rhomboidal double-stitched sweat shield and the narrowness of the piping.

IMO a nice foreign made cap ...
3 prongs original zinc late war death head .Period affixed ? Hard to say .
But nowadays a one shot operation as the prongs are so thin and fragile ...

That is a fake cap, it's an Atwood fake from the 60's. He (Col Atwood) was a crook running 4th Reich militaria out of Germany. Save your money or be a fool the choice is yours.

Is the black band made from velvet ? If'yes , strange no for an NCO cap !

If it is indeed a FAKE BY ATWOOD then that closes the question..I've never ran into a similar one at any shows which would seem odd if a group where fabricated in the 1960s..I tend to think it looks made in one of the occupied European countries that drew volunteers into the WAFFEN SS..JMHO Billbert

It is a good one produced in the occupied territories! No doubts
