M43 SS Field Issue Hat Made of Italian Wool

I would like to get your thoughts on the SS M43, Italian wool hat. The description stated that the insignia is machine was sewn. It seems to have been sewn then flipped down and zig-zag sewn but the edges are raw... I've not seen that before but I'm not an expert. All comments welcome. Best regards, Steve

Perhaps an original "Heer" M43 with post war applied SS insignia.

The application is strange for a wool-based, machine-embroidered insignia, typical of machine-woven of course.
