Ben--was there evidence of an SS skull having been there before?
My thought is an SS officer who transferred to the WH.
Yes, there where holes both for the ss skull and eagle, these just slided in and fitted perfectly. In the full set of pic which will be on the website at update one can see it all.

Yes, the Officer probably transfered from SS to WH and did not want to spend money on a whole new cap (remember officers paied for their own caps)

Thanks Ben for taking the time starting this thread.

To the guy who belive the dirt inside looks fake, you should probably start collecting something else as you really have no clue!

    Cheers

Has anyone seen any paperwork relating to SS Officers transferring to the Heer?
I'm curious as to how that process worked.

Very nice visor, being a Transformer. I have seen Police Visor converting into Army Fieldgendarmie visor. I forget where it is, probably here in WAF.

I will not back of, many people are so tired of these types of comments from collectors lacking the knowledge in the area discussed.

I can't help you with any sources but it definitely happened (more often the other way around of course). In any case, awesome piece of history and thanks for taking the time to share it ... Kurt

I subscribe as well. Reason that I have stopped sharing items for a while now, why bother? Besides for the known and valued members; too many ignorants hitting their keyboard. Discussions on an "academic" level are also becoming very thin spread, a pity.

Anyway, sorry for this diversion, very interesting and nice cap Ben. Also due to the less common transfer from SS to Heer than visa versa of course. Thank you for sharing.
