They love the soft loose wool and can eat all of it easily.

So I don't know much about visors. I am a strictly luft construction, Kreigs carpenter insignia collector.

Would it be possible to replace the top? How much approx? Would this be considered blasphemy?

I actually don't mind the front if Bob puts the eagle back on somehow

merdock, do you really think it would take it's last breath on the trip across the pond?

        Thanks for any help guys!!!

I might just come back in my next life as a moth as this wool seems quite delicious looking and I am not even an actual moth...yet.

The good old time when the materials were still natural...
No moth would eat the synthetic caps today !

Ethiopian and Eritrean moths have been known to eat anything resembling a German WW2 cap

want to see some moth casings ?
I'm surprised there was anything left of this cap to be honest.
I've decided to have a go at tidying this cap up myself e.g. removing all these bloody egg casings though they look like they died decades ago...
The chin strap and peak responded straight away to some leather feed and that also took off the white paint spots.
The leather liner was also pleased to get some feed on it..yes it was a very hungry liner .Sadly no stamps under the liner but the red sponge was there
The original LW eagle was removed from the Pol. shako and put back into position were it belongs. One pin had broken off the kockade but the bonus was that was still embedded in the cap so will think of a way to fix it back on....any ideas fellas

I'll show a couple more pics of the interior showing all those damn moth casings.

                  Cheers
