    Truppen Sonderdienst Visor

    Per the post from RonR showing his TSD visor, I thought I would also show my TSD. As you know, the TSD were first formed in 1944 and identified as a Special Administrative group.This visor was brought back by my father at the end of the war and is actually one my favorites because of the sentimental attributes associated with this cap. It is 1 of 6 pieces of head wear that he was able to acquire/liberate and bring home. This particular cap was liberated at Plauen during the mass surrender of German soldiers to the 87th Infantry Division in late May 1945.

    This visor was definitely worn by the Officer (my most worn visor), no visible maker to id cap (not unusual w/late war), has late war zinc insignia, a dirty chin cord (character) and only wish he had documented who he received it from.

    Enjoy.

                The ersatz simulated bullion cord is cool too. Great that your Dad got it, those are the best souvenirs.

                    That's a good looking cap . . . and I'd say the "connection" to your past can't be beat - awesome!

                        I would be interested to learn how often other members have seen this type of very rare "core-spun" piping on the visor hat of this thread and Ron's visor in the linked thread below;
