I too would agree that it appears to be Chaplain and not certainly not smoke troops from these pictures.

Take it outside and look closely at the piping to ensure someone hasn't dyed a white piped cap.

The piping is perfectly Chaplain. Anymore pics of the entire cap?
Although it looks great. So does the Nebel NCO in doeskin.

Now you have to find an original cross for it. Be patient!

I'm guessing you're thinking it's not violet enough so it must be medical?

It may be faded medical...In this photo this area would not really be exposed to sunlight and it looks a bit like blue medical piping. I know I have seen Med piping fade to violet before.
