          Berg

Close-up focused detail pics of the insignia, markings and other important features would be needed.

I had a Reitinger Bergmütze, but it seems not to be original.
Here is thread to compare with yours:

                    Yours look much better.

could you post a foto like mine on post 5?

If it's 1940, it has two or three characteristics that are odd.

                        Hello Gentlemen,
I agree with John, that if this is a '40 dated bergmuetze, it has some odd characteristics. The grommets in particular are strange to my eyes. In general, I would not be real comfortable with this example.
                        Thank you,
                        Curtiss

                          Dated 1940 .
I don't like it at all and it reminds me the repros sold on the german
shows some years ago , always mint but dirty ...and from the same manufacturer !
The grommets are not WW2 IMO and certainly not a 40 quality .
                          Nick

                            The stamp is 1943...
And GAMS1 please feel free to write on which details you find out it is a copy...
If you have just "feelings" that does not help at all...

The cap is not mint at all.
The cloth is different under the Edelweiß and under the flaps, also the leather fits to this condition. Also the Steinnußbuttons are not the common post war copys.

And please also compare it directly to your fakecaps of this manufacturer and you will see the difference.

From my side: this cap is defently beyond all doubts.

I suspect both examples are reproductions. The painted grommits are perhaps the most glaring "tell". I don't care for the crown seam as well.
