Have seen examples of this style in SS reference books, an 'officers' M40 style using white piping. If repro, it's nicely done. Looks to have had insig on there for quite a while....?.....I'm guessing part of that RB# ink stamp is skewed too.

Not for me ...strange cut ?
White piping is not a problem .
RBNr is wrong and new applied

I've not seen an RBNr beginning with 64 before, but the cap looks good to me, materials, cut and construction etc.

It seems the first part of the number is faint or didn't print, it just appears incomplete. The cap warrants a benefit of the doubt, imo, but will be a leap of faith for some it appears. If real and with the resto of its officer insig....would be a helluva scarce cap.

Maybe it's not an RBNr at all but some other manufacturing number code.

As an aside, the focus and importance placed solely on ink stamps to authenticate an item drives me insane.

Too many authentic items have been thrown out with the bath water due to markings that we yet to understand.
