Unusual maker's name on Visor Cap Eagle?

    Hi All,

I have recently started to go through some of my finds and try to make some notes about them.

The maker's mark on this Aluminium (or maybe Zinc?) Wehrmacht Visor cap eagle shown below is not one that I've been able to identify. It appears to be 'S.u.S / 37' and the lettering (especially the U) is typical German gothic script.

The closest maker's mark I could find was 'S&S' but close inspection shows that this is definitely not marked 'S&S'.

The eagle was ground recovered near Danzig in Poland as the condition will show.

If anyone could shed any more light on this maker's mark and identify who it could be I'd be most grateful. I'm prepared to be told that the mark is in fact 'common as muck' as we say in Britain.

    Thanks and best wishes,

    Simon
