    They all do it...

This cap was offered to me years ago by the veteran's family. Today while browsing some dealer sites, I noticed it sold over at eMedals.com Except, it had grown a name tag and almost doubled in price.

The top photo is the one I received from the seller a few years back, bottom is from the dealer's site.

I know this is a minuscule detail, but these sort of practices, no matter how small, are wrong and need to be called out.

Next time you pay a premium for something that is named, think twice.

Here is a link to the thread I started about this cap in 2011: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=525639

and here is a link to the dealer's listing: http://www.emedals.com/collectors-ga...ry-offic-g9311

IMO: What you are showing here is an unfortunate practice with this hobby. I personally think this is one of the principal reasons that many collectors, myself included, have become more averse over time to buying from dealers.
I would rather take my chances in buying what I can find from primary sources. Sure it's a lot more work but I believe your chances of getting an item that hasn't been "enhanced" is far more likely.
I have no way of knowing if "They all do it" as the title of you thread implies but we do see example of this with a lot of regularity.

Couldn't agree more. The title of the thread "They all do it.." is a bit of a generalization and I certainly don't believe that EVERY dealer doctors up their items. In fact, there are a few very honest people who come to mind.

However, it always amazes me how some of the big dealers with the fancy websites are often the ones who engage in these sort of practices.
