Picked up a box of nazi stuff at a estate sale today, i got it early because everybody knows i pay sometimes to much AND PAY CASH. Got 3 hats 2 belts and buckles, y straps , mess kit, canteen some cut collar tabs a shoe mine and a fur backpack, also 3 overseas hats. Ill let the pics tell the rest. LOL

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. I never even thought about the rat pee. How should they be cleaned by hand i would think.

I had a similar situation, a beautiful US WWI uniform where a mouse or rat took particular interest in the upper left sleeve and it's beautiful French made patch. I did wash it by hand (wearing thick gloves and a respirator) several times. One tub for washing, two tubs for rinsing. After the first washing I didn't use the respirator, that was more to keep from sucking in any dust/crap. I let it air dry between washings and after the third shot had someone I know with a good nose give it a sniff and see if they picked up rat urine (remember the chemistry trick: hold your nose above the cap and use your hand to "waft" the stink towards your nose (It's embarrassing going to the doctor with some horrible, weird lung infection trying to explain to him that you picked up the infection by sticking your nose in an old Nazi hat trying to smell rat piss).
Joking aside, nice finds! I can imagine the rollercoaster of seeing that cap then realizing what happened to it. The other two help make up for it at least
