A member asked me to post this after I mentioned it in another thread. Found during the battle of the Bulge and brought back by a local veteran. I picked this up many other items he brought back but this was the only hat I bought. I have these basic pictures from the day I bought it.

The man that brought it back is 93 years old and was a Captain in the 11th Armored Division. I spoke with his grandson who knew the story of all of the items. The hat is untouched and the braid was applied during the War. He had an entire foot locker full of German stuff he mailed back that was sold at a farm auction last year when he developed Alzheimers and was moved into a nursing home. He only had daughters and the stuff was sitting in the house since the War.
He had this set too which is very rare and I picked up a luger holster, an officers sword, eating utensils, 7x50s, and a bunch of other small items but the medals were my favorite.Last edited by Johnny R; 06-14-2013, 09:57 AM.Comment
