Closeup of the insignia? The skull doesn't look so hot methinks.

Thought it looked like Italian wool until the fold was turned up. Were HBT linings common for all M43s? Was the HBT always dyed or usually in the offwhite? I have been wondering about m43 linings so I guess this is timely.

The loops sewn to the pulldown section look funny, I've never seen one sewn in that manner..

This cap appear to have had the lining opened in the front and re-sewn.
Very poor job of it too.

The lining was not opened, but as you can also see at the botom this cap was hardly worn. I'll try to make better photo os this and of the insignia

                    Sorry,

I would have definate concerns on this m-43 cap. The outside has little or no wear. The inside has this suspicious wear in the front and clear signs of re-sewing with a different color thread. I have owned lots SS m-43 caps and have not seen holes worn in the liner like this. Have you blacklight the thread around the liner on this cap?

                      Hello ,

First , I give an opinion only about the M43 cap .
From the pic , I can't see any trace of restitching .
The thick white thread parrallel to the border of the lining is not a problem for me .
The loops are correctly affixed for me , not the more often encountered method
, but correct ! ( I like the hand sewn loops more , or put-on machine sewn )
The white material seems to be the one used to reinforce the border of the frontal tongue ( difficult to explain for me in english , but the 43 caps collectors know what I mean ) .

The wear is very difficult to estimate on the Italian gabardine , and , one more time , from the pics , I see nothing wrong !

The lining is the correct Italian HBT / satin ( very often used by the fakers..)

Maybe Alain could show some better pics of the button holes , outside and inside , view of the back of the tongue ..... ( To see if the reinforcement is present , even if the fakers know this detail since many years , and some late war production don't have it....)

is it possible to feel something between the gabardine and the lining ?
a band ( very thin pressed paper or burlap ) .

                      Regards ,
