Thanks so much for posting this fine M40. Looks real good. The 842 stamp also is very interesting, as i have only seen it on the Hans Brandt sidecaps before now.

Has anyone seen the 842 stamp on any M40's or sidecaps besides this cap & the Brandts ?

I believe it reads "E 42". Nice cap, Bruno Kern was one of the very few makers to also produce an officer's model.
