    KM Female Auxiliery Overseas Cap

The first major use of female personnel on specifically military duties by the Kriegsmarine began on April 10, 1941 with the formation of the Aircraft Reporting Auxilliaries.

In mid-1942, a further predominantly female branch was formed as the Naval Auxiliaries (Marinehelferinnen).

In 1943 the Kriegsmarine formed its own corps of Anti-Aircraft Auxiliaries.

These three services of female auxiliaries were combined to form the Wehrmachthelferinnenkorps in 1944.

This is the Overseas Cap of this group.

Leadership grades wore yellow/black cord, or gold piping to the top edge of the flap.

Very nice Ron, it looks like you have a nice large size as well. Any date or manufacturer marks on the inside?? I've never seen the senior ranks hat, does anyone have one in their collections to share???

Ron, Interesting that the eagle is on the upper portion of the hat. Most of the ones I have seen (and own) have the eagle on the lower half where normally a national color cockade would be. Mine is a size 55 and stamped 1943 on the inside.

                    That hat is a beauty!

Interesting that the first photo above, shows them both ways.

Also of note that there does not appear to be any marks on the interior of the hat.

                    Best regards,
