Nice cap Steve, IMO the eagle looks replaced.

Thanks. Although externally, it's not the prettiest application of an eagle, IIRC, it's machine sewn and the stitching doesn't go through to the liner. The camel pin is definitely added post war ; )

Okay, just had it out to look at it. Both the eagle and cockade are machine stiched and neither stitchings go through the liner, just the exterior of the hat. Again, neither are the prettiest application, but they is what they is

Hi Steve, really need better photos to tell if the insignia has been replaced.

& John, the LW officers sidecap post #84 & #103 is not one of the good ones imo. But i leave it to you and your superior knowledge to expand on this....

            Hi Tim,

Yes, the officers side cap in post #84 is obviously a reproduction.

Not sure if Jack is still around, but the officers M41 in post #40 looks suspect, only detail photos would confirm either way.

            Others?

              Hi John,
it is not easy to comment the caps posted 10 years ago but I would only accept the LW caps in post 16 and 36 for my collection, after seeing better pics or hand inspection of course. They have a chance IMO.I am not commenting SS,KM or Heer tropical billed caps because of a very low knowledge of them.
              Best,
              Gustav

Wonderful photos Gustav! The cap in the first photo in post 114 appears to be a KM M40.

Yes, thanks for the photos! Nice to see the inverted trianglar eagle backing (as well as the mix match of Army and Air Force uniform bits) in period photos.
