    M38 side cap

    Hello
    Ouick question, would ALL m38 side caps including officers have
    metal vent holes? Im looking at an officers and it doesn't have the vent holes.

    I'm not sure it might be an m34 how do i tell the differance?

      There were officer sidecaps without vent holes.

        M34 and M38 are no period descriptions. They are common today because the sidecap for enlisted men was introduced in 1934 and the sidecap for officers in 1938 as a replacement for the "crusher" cap.
        The correct german description is "Feldmütze" or simply "Schiffchen".

          The biggest difference is the officer cap has narrower top panels..most m38s also have sweatband.... Billbert

          No vents is rarely encountered in original m34 em style
