Odd set up Panzer T on M 43

I picked this up with a great unissued LW tuchrock in an antique mall today but I am assuming that this is a post War hat with original insignia?

Looks like a reasonably early West German cap to may eye from the early 1960's perhaps,

Thanks- I was hoping it was, this is another example of a Vet having a post War items and the family insisting it was brought back during the War. He passed away last year but the family told the seller that the cap was brought home with this tunic-

Insignia looks fake to me,IMO. Agree on the hat.

Here is a clear close-up of the insignia. If it is fake can someone date it? I would be interested. The seller is saying it is all 100% real which usually means it was in the family at least 20 years etc.

cant really say how old the insignia is Johnny but it looks like it seen some reenacting action or just cigar or cigarette smoke ,its a dud for sure as far as i know they did not make a white on black "T" insignia a mint repro for comparison

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Thanks Lenny, I will put it in the "box". I had to take it with the tunic so no worries.

The left/right arms of the swastika don't even match up with each other

I use to see those white on black T-shaped Panzer badges for sale with dealers out here in NZ in the late 1970's so they must have been made some time before that. There was also a white on dark green version as well.

                    Have never liked them,

                    Chris

Thanks, I bet he picked it up somewhere after the War and it became "real" over the years. I see that a lot.

In this case it probably is better to restore it back to a early BW Cap with the correct insignia
