Field upgrade?

Hi guys,
I picked this nice cap up recently. It looks like a field upgrade from an EM to an Officer. The braid looks nicely hand sewn, as are the cockade and the eagle. This is a beautiful cap, with some minor field wear.

Any thoughts or comments on this one?

Had to tell but across the top looks narrow like officer cap..non standard piping but liner marking and leather sweatband and no grommets say private purchase officer to me..Billbert

Kind of hard to tell, but the stiching on the roundel looks pretty horrendous.

I think what you are seeing is wear on the roundel where the embroidery is starting to separate.
