    LW officer cap repro?

Apologies for being unable to post a link, but at www.philipp-militaria-de., there is a newly listed Luftwaffe officer's cap, priced at 850 euros, which has a maker that I have never seen referenced anywhere. Fantasy maker, or a good one?
    Thanks.

You have to be a member to access the photos. Any change you can post the pics for us to see them?

Hopefully, someone else who has signed up can provide a link. I'll try to describe the maker's logo: Above two cojoined diamonds, with a large letter S in the middle, is " Das Zeichen." Below the diamonds are the words "fur wertarbeit." Above them & below the diamonds is the date 1877.

I am pretty certain that the 1877 markings are found on post war East German caps.

          Hey Bob,

I would stay away from that one. The cockarde looks bad and the eagle has an odd backing to it. Even if original, it looks reapplied. But I would say it's bad. That's for starters, but my two cents.

There's another one on there for even less, but it's atrocious!

          Best regards,

          Jason

I have never seen this maker before, but that doesn't mean anything. IMHO, it is a good (albeit late-war) visor.

That eagle sure looks like it's on a green wool backing, in which case, it belongs on, or came from, a Luftwaffe Forestry Official's visor. Chuck Scaglione had a beautiful mint specimen of a Luft. Forestry cap back around 1970 that he had picked up in a backroom of an antique shop in Germany, & it had this same exact eagle on green. As a kid, my neighbor had a mint tunic of a Luft. Forestry Official, he'd never sell to me, he kept it in his basement, & after some years it stunk badly; he carefully removed all the insignias, gave the silver bullion green-backed eagle to me, & his wife then burned it along with a HJ Sports Vest, armbands & flags, because they smelled bad. I still have that breast eagle, & it's a great match to that cap eagle.

I don't have a good feel on it. I would find a better example.
