    Good point of study Ben,

the font looks to be close to the type of stamp used by Clemens Wagner in their SS hats and tropical caps.

Do you have any size stamps in SS hats made by CW that you can compare with ?

The emedals cap is fake and not a Clemens Wagner made example and yes they are faking this size stamps since a while.

        Yes and my wording was;

"the font looks to be close to the type of stamp used by Clemens Wagner"

I did not say that this was a cap made by Clemens Wagner or when I thought it was made.

However, I am interested to know why Ben has highlighted it to add to this thread and what his feelings/ experience are in regard to it,

Sir, thank you for making this abundantly clear. I had thought my post 433, although perhaps somewhat obtuse, would have indicated this to the majority.

          Regards to you,

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Ditto (with a nice original insignia)

Every SS M43 with a trap and HBT lining gets declared bad on this thread, except for the black Dachau examples.

And now every other SS black panzer M43 with a black panzer trap and two composite buttons is being declared fake.

Each cap has to be judged in its own right.

Yes there are are clever reproductions only too willing to trick collectors out of their money. Thus caution and doubt is justified.

However, sadly there are diamonds being thrown out with the dirt.

The pictures taken during the war, clearly show that there are real SS Panzer M43's with that trap and buttons (the diamonds) out there to be found,

Fyi my opinion had nothing to do with the hbt lining

The question however, is this a German made example or is it made some where else before May 1945 like Italy or Austria ???

                          Chris
Post # 364 Might be made by a german but post 1945 another reproduction

It's relevant to this thread because of the HBT fabric used in it's construction.
The exact same fabric can be seen in numerous caps in this thread.

                                Oh dear.

And it is well known that Batches of this fabric where found post war........

It is a known fact that they used this fabric in real hats and tunic and in fake hats and fake tunics.
