I've been told that this belonged to a soldier who was member of a flight crew or possibly a mechanic, but it doesn't add much to it.

Nice and original example of a so-called Pelzmütze with factory-applied insignia. Too bad about the scuff wear to the front. These "Nacktpelz" items are always hard to preserve. Best keep them stored in a moist-free and low-humidity, dark environment.
