Officers Visor Cap / Different Insignia..

For some this question will confirm how little one knows of this subject, I've always wondered this so here goes..

    Infantry Officers caps for example.
Is their a set rule that one type is Early/Mid/Late war apart from the quality of the materials of course but say an example has 50/50 insignia - metal eagle & a Bullion wreath, or all bullion insignia or all metal insignia??
What's the reason behind this what ever was to hand at the time?

    Can someone explain.

No--there can be all-metal early war, and all-bullion late war. Bullion insignia could double the cost of a hat, and imho, it wasn' that scarce as the war wore on for that reason. LW hats by reg had to have all bullion, and you will see a noticeable decrease in quality for the late '44 early '45 ones.

Anyone else want to pipe in?

I've since found a thread that answers my question I took a while it was an old one.

So having all metal insignia on a Infantry officers visor could possibly have been upgraded from an NCO (not a hard an fast rule) but where a bullion wreath kind of makes you feel more comfortable it's as issued.
That's not saying a metal wreath & eagle isn't collectable, I get the feeling the bullion wreath is more collected..
