    Panzer Sidecap With Waffenfarbe NAMED

I ll show you a very nice sidecap that comes indirectly from the Family.

The owner of this Hat was Unteroffizier ERNST MĂ–LLENSTEDT belonging to Panzer Abteilung 118.

The Hat came out from the Widow of Ernst s Brother who was a Panzer guy and was KIA in 1944.

Also Ernst s denazified Wrapper and 2 documents(one PAB award document)came out but went in another collection through a German Friend and collector Here on WAF.I would love to reunite everything

I was thinking to Replace the eagle and i Have a nice replacement but i guess i will just apply it gently on top of the original one just for display and easily removable.

Insignia are Period Hand sewn and eagle is sewn through lining, evenm the part where the svastika was which made me think of an original application and not reapplied.

Cockade is a dark Blue KM one original to the hat as well.

Lining is marked faintly LAGO NIEDERSACHSEN and size is a big 59

I hope you like it asmuch as i do.

    Daniele

Daniele, sweet cap with great provenance! I would not replace the eagle or cover it over. I would leave as is. It adds to its history. Fortunate or unfortunate. Love the deep color of the black and the painted rivets! Mike.

Instead of applying an entire eagle over this original one, why don't you just cut the wreath and swastike from another similar eagle and tack it under the orignal cut eagle. That would be a better restoration IMO. If done nicely, I would see no need to ever remove it.

I'd put in a repro wreath though. Wouldn't want to ruin an original eagle.
