Bevo T Trapezoid on M43 cap

Bevo T Trapezoid on M43 cap

    Hello guys,

I have this nice M43 cap with a Bevo ´T´ Trapezoid. It was normally seen on Gebirgsjäger caps.

Is this normal and seen more often on M43 caps? Please give me your opinions.

    Regards,

    Grenadier

Another question about the inside of the cap.
Any idea where these are for?

Hi Grenadier, there are many photographic evidence that show M43 caps with 'T' style insignia like yours. Not the norm but did exist.

They are refered to as "Pull down loops". They were used in order to easily bring the side flaps of the cap down in cold weather.

            Cheers, Ade.

It appears you have a later war M43 cap and the eagle looks hand applied. That is possible of course, but would like to see a better close-up.

Some with more experience can weigh in, but my background is it is normal for GJ enlisted caps to have machine applied T eagles and M43 caps too when applied. Again, there are exceptions I am sure.

IMO - One would expect to see on a later cap that if a T eagle was used, it was sewn in a manner like a standard Trap. That means not folded in like this one, but in the shape of a standard Trap and you can see that it's a T eagle.

Are you asking for opinions on the hat insignia's application or the overall hat itself?

                    Hello Singer,

I just wondered if it's normal that T Trapezoids were used for M43 caps, especially in the late war period. You often see a lot of pictures with the V Trapezoid instead of this one.

Regards and thanks for your reply,

Probably not the most pertinent question IMHO; however, yes, although likely not "normal" the "T" Trapezoids are found on hats of that time frame (but usually not cut and folded as in your example).

I think they call this a "clue".

Well Frank, you might be right, but I have never been much good at solving things, so I'll just "exit, stage left."
