I purchased this fantastic,army,transportation officers, visor cap,around twelve years ago ,from a dealer out east, that had just got it, while in Germany.The wool in this hat is combat quality.Rare piping!Please give me your opinion on this piece.Thank,kirk

Nick, is this kind of "combat quality" wool prevalent in mid-war caps? I thought it indicated more of a late-war?

I think a light blue transport branch is today rarer to find as many think.

I am pretty sure you could choose this type of wool early on but it was not done too often. My guess is around 43' these “field grade wool’s” started to get more popular and the majority made in 44'. The lining and construction on this one looks mid war to me.
