    Thank you for posting that great shot of the early black field cap. It is extremely interesting to see it being worn at that late date, and with parade white accoutrements to boot.

      Amazing photos of the berret insignia being worn on a crusher and I that's the first period photo I've ever seen of a cap with obvious signs of repair/replaced peak, thanks for posting!

                Anders, Thank you. Phil can you or any one else provides an assesment on these crushers provided on the picture evidence and your previous experience with these. This can provide a broad reference framework with regard to to ss crushers. eg

                Makers/ suppliers
                Regulation re issue and wear
                Construction characteristics
                - Visor ( leather / cloth)
                - Cap band ( velvet / woolen)
                - Pasteband
                - Lining/ markings
                - sweatband
                - Insignia
                - Chincords
                - Piping (colored/ white)
                - cloth used for body of cap

                            Nice photos.
                            All the talk about colorpiped/crushers should be used by officers and therefor almost non existing is not true. ( the yellow piped tread).
                            This shows what many of us know that it was also a nco practice as well.
                            This multiply the chanses of people wearing them
