Hans Reimling again, another angle. KIA March 7, 1943 near Walki am Ostfront. This image is after his February award of the Knights Cross, so mid war with cloth and early insignia.Attached FilesLast edited by Lloyd I.; 02-27-2008, 10:05 PM.

Here is an example of the first type in the thread in that picture of the three, a classic true Crusher with soft leather visor bill with sewn insignia but with added chin cords. This appears to have been peculiar to W-SS more so than WH examples.

My last example of this preference in W-SS to add chin chords to crushers. There is a series of Arnold Jürgensen in this very Crusher before he added the chin cords to it.
Arnold Jürgensen, 12.SS.Pzr.Rgt, died from wounds received in battle near BüttgenbachAttached FilesLast edited by Lloyd I.; 02-27-2008, 11:00 PM.

Alright sorry, last one I promise. Gerd Bremer in an early 38 pattern Crusher with added chin cords in disarray. Rundstedt inspecting 12th SS. I hope that I have added some insight or something valuable to the thread.
My own SS crusher has been thumbed up and down but remains in my collection waiting a matching Eagle and Skull. My next major purchase.
Any chance of pictures from the SS Crushers at SOS?Attached Files

Just stumbled on this.....I know, so much for a promise. Early SS-VT era. M38 field gray style Crusher with an SS Sleeve Eagle instead of a cap eagle or cap insignia. Large but too small to be the panzer crash version of the eagle. Classic example of German variation.Attached FilesLast edited by Lloyd I.; 02-27-2008, 11:38 PM.
