    Some good deals on headgear

Jessen's has just updated, page #2 looks complete. On Page #1 the banner photos are incorrect you need to click on the description to see the new item. I've bought a few visors from Tony and he seems to get some nice items at fair prices. http://www.jessensrelics.com/jesframes.html

Thanks for the tip--just went there--those post '42 Officer Feurschutzpolizeis pop up once every 2 years. I wish I wasn't as d**n picky as I am condition-wise, or I would be all over it--you gotta love that carmine, brown and police-green:

This is also as rare as hens teeth--NSKK attached to the LW. The hat is a 100% origninal Halfar, mid-war quality. Probably unissued due to the pinhead size. If I hadn't blown my hat budget for the month, I would be all over this. If someone here gets it, I would love to see more pics:

And he has a forestry by one of the most underrated makers, Wilhelm Welhausen (and this is an early piece)--classic high peak with a sharp slope to the sides:

            Erel Luftwaffe Officer's visor

What do you all think of the Erel Luft on the same website?

I've met and bought a lot of things from him and I believe he is honest as they come. Sometimes opinions differ but I have concerns about that hat from the pictures. Otherwise, it would be gone at that price...

John - I had the M43 cap on hold for about 20 minutes after he first listed it. I sent two emails, one to place on hold and one to clarify what cap we were talking about. He was fast responsive with his answers. His photos are not that good, and as I studied them more and more, I developed a bad feeling. I sent him third email cancelling the order after receiving unfavorable opinions from 3 collectors more advanced than me.

I politely told him the cap was questionable and got the silent treatment since. No response.......nothing.

Sorry, that tells me volumes about a seller.

Sorry Chris ,but on this hat I'e some concerns. It should have a dark brovn band and not black.
Another concern ere the insigna,in all the period photos I saw all the NSKK officer attached to the LW whore embroided insigna.
I think this hat a original Off. LW upgraded to NSKK.I like to have this visor for hand inspection.
I would like to know what Bob Coleman think about this hat.
                  I could be wrong.
                  Cheers
                  Carlo

There are several versions. Here is one I posted a few weeks ago. Of course, it DOES have embroidered insignia, as Carlo noted.

Carlo, it really comes down to extra holes in the pasteboard. Every Ce-Ha mid-war cap I have seen have always had the bullion insignia, issued or unissued (see the one on Gerards site right now for an example). As long as there are no extra holes in the pasteboard, as the seller says, it is (imho) a legit one. What tips the balance for me in favor of it being original is that this is a mid-war Ce-Ha Prima--it has the standard LW visor, and not the paper, plus the wool is a better grade than on the late-wars. I believe that this was simply a contract cap issued to the NSKK-LW attached units, but because it was a pinhead size (54) it was never issued.

Leroy, I never get tired of looking at yours!

                        Luft Erel vs Luft Erel

Can someone take a look at the Luft Erel on Jessen's website & compare it to the estand Luft Erel pictured in the "luft erel" thread? The insignia look quite a bit different. Are both sets OK?

I'm not sure what kind of response you would expect. I imagine he figured it was fruitless to argue if he disagreed.

I don't know about the caps, but the camo helmet has a fake decal and bad paint....just thought I'd mention that in passing.

                              Spot on Dan
I've seen plenty of bad helmets pass through that site. Every once and a while a gem does pass muster though.
