The best reference book is IMO.

GERMAN HEADGEAR IN WORLD WAR II Pat Moran & Jon Maguire

In this book you will find all types of caps, crusher, sidecaps, hundreds of colored pictures.
For me the best book.

Personally, I have a soft-spot for the Shutt, which is out of print, but pop-up from time to time:

This was the first visor hat book I ever got way back in 1980, and another sentimental favorite--all color pics (and yes, it has some bloopers, like they all do):

This one came out last year in France, and is also in French, but has some very nice caps. It also has M-43s, Schiffchens, helmets, and covers civil/political/WH--all in color. You should be able to find all these on Ebay.
