    Fake Schellenberg reference

Ron’s thread prompted me to share something with you guys. It has been said a million times that Schellenberg’s are highly faked. IMHO not so. They are faked though. For your viewing pleasure I present you what I believe to be a fake Schellenberg. The silver print was not used in this format. As far as I have ever seen this logo was mainly in red with very few in a silver/gold type print. The sweatband is also not a type associated with Schellenberg. The lining is folded over on the ends. Another trait not found on Schellenberg’s and the color and weave of the lining is also not consistent with Schellenberg production. When you se a visor from a major maker that just does not sit right with you, always compare construction traits to know originals. From the lining color, sheen and weave alone I knew this one was going nowhere.

Here is the proper silver/gold type print. There are no other inks with this type logo that I have ever found. There are silver print logos with the other (early) Schellenberg logo. Still it is no match to the subject pics.

NTZ--do you mean to say they tried to copy the pressed paper visor? The sb looks leather on this one. This must be a newer-generation of fake--I don't think I've seen it before---looks like they are trying to adapt for our "disclosures"!

One more thing. The maker of this gem also does Erel’s. You need to watch out because the one I did get to examine had a cello shield. It was obviously post war upon inspection but the fakers have now compensated for the plastic shields. They can keep changing to adjust but they need to do a lot more research to get it right.
