You are correct that this is the flat style of enlisted eagle instead of the thick officer eagle. It could be correct if the wearer was a Meister rank Gendarm. Senior NCOs (Meister) were considered Unteroffizier mit Portepee and could wear officer cap cords and officer Portepee. They could also wear this officer qualilty Tschako with scales.

Nice rural shako, very clean and untouched. Be happy I still don't own a rural officer's shako. That is one nice medal bar and officer's tunic on the old thread. Joe

For the record guys, while the tunic and pants are a set and have almost certainly been together since manufacture, I obtained the shako from a separate source. Around the same time yes, but separately. You see the shako the same way I got it some 25 years ago. Thanks for the interesting comments, especially as to the type of eagle in place, I mean it is what it is, but I do appreciate the insight.

Polizei officer shako

Could someone please post a photo of a "correct" officer shako eagle for my edification.
A local dealer is holding a schutzpolizei officer's shako for me until I'm able to pay for it. I viewed it briefly months ago and now can't recall the eagle.
A photo of a correct example would be great for me to use as a guide when I see it again.

This thread will show you what the Gendarmerie Officer Tschako and eagle plate look like. The eagle is thick and sits proud from the wreath. It often has a cloth padding as well.

I like it--I wonder if it is just a manufacturer's anomaly--it has an officer liner, and for an NCO upgrade you would see the leather liner.

BTW, I am of the belief that Roemer made these for Erel--may be true for Becker, too, I just have to get off my a__ and do more research on this topic.
