Thanks Bob and Mike for your input,

So we have some who think its Chaplain (besides the fact that no period picture exist of chaplains wearing EM style sidecaps) and others who think it's medical afterall. Guys, to be honest, I don't know it anymore. It's just very difficult for me to get the real color with my pre-war camera...It also depends what you use for lighting and how your screen-options are setup.

Now, take a look at these later war medical shoulderstraps which I found in the closet (well, at least I hope they are medical ) !

Compare them first with the pre-war NCO straps 1sweat:

                Hello,

It is all about lightening here, soutache and shoulderboards are all piped in medic blue. That piping does look more purple in some lightening, which many times have been taken advantage of sellers of caps purposed to be Chaplains.

Lasse, I've heared these stories as well, but you cannot go around the obvious differences visible in the pictures in post # 33 & 34.

I'm willing to accept it's medical (more then you guys think), but you see clearly the differences in that picture,no?

Thanks to all of the members for taking the time helping me out!

                  Cheers

now everybody understands why the german army got rid of the soutache in 1942, what a mess...

They also got rid of the violet piping running shoes for chaplains too. Notice the violet socks too. Bishop shoes had gold laces.
BTW, there are a number of threads on the color for chaplains.

I agree with Lasse Kongo. In my book its also medical! Chaplains were honerary officers who did not even wear shoulderboards and their staff most likely were verwaltungstruppen (administrative green waffenfarbe) is my theory. I doubt that religious purple ever was issued to non coms, never seen any clergy artifacts below officer's "rank". The flash an lack of natural light and aging (fading) perhaps is playing games with everybodies eyes, but I would love to see somebody proove me wrong, as I've never ever come acroos low ranking clergy artifacts! Nick.
Is natuurijk gewoon medisch hoor, precies wat je nodig hebt!!

I never thought I'd see my Chaplian Officer's M38 cap again... then Chap15 posted pictures of it!! How I miss that cap!!

It looks like you are taking good care of it Chap15, so I am glad for that. If you want to sell it back to me... you just let me know!

The cap is medical and the straps are most likely Reichsheer Truppensonderdienst missing the winged staff.
