As usual, terrific headgear--this is the first I have seen (or heard) of a Nachrichten Helferin headgear--rare, and under-appreciated, to say the least.
Choice condition on the sturzhelms--every one I see looks like it has been thru the proverbial meatgrinder.

I still have to find those photos of my Marine-NSKK visor so I can finally contribute to this thread

Thank you Mr. Coleman and Robert39 for sharing your wonderful sturtzhelms with us. Absolutely gorgeous and an underrated area of collecting.

I've seen N S K K schiffen with tresse on them, running diagonally from top to bottom. Does this designate rank? Some of the caps had the tresse towards the front of the cap and some had it towards the back.

          Robert-
Thank you for adding your sturzzhelm to this thread. I have to say I was hoping for more material from the membership. Maybe, it is still to come.
I want to thank all who have so far contributed to the success of this thread. I will post my last two pieces later today. Both have been covered previously in other threads. However, they should become a part of this record.
David, schiffen with tresse would have the same meaning as tresse found on kepis. The tresse indicates a position held, not a rank. A general rank officer would wear a kepi without tresse if he did not hold as position such as the head of a standarte, head of a brigade, head of a gruppen, etc.

My last contribution to this thread is also my favorite piece of N S K K headgear. It is a kepi with crimson top and 2.0 cm. tresses with golden brown zig zag stitching. Worn only by department chiefs, this kepi turned up in the early-mid 60's in Southern California along with a N S K K Obergruppenfuhrer mantel and a dagger that were formerly the property of General Franz Ritter v. Epp, who was a N S K K Ehrenfuhrer. Many period photos exist of v. Epp in N S K K uniform wearing such a kepi.
In conclusion, I am always interested in adding pieces from the N S K K to my collection-particullary headgear from the various Trnsport Speer organizations.

Ok the last two blew me away. Bob is the v. Epp kepi the one pictured in Vol3 of Headgear of Hitler's Germany? I remember one like it but don't have the book here right now.

                          NTZ-
The v. Epp kepi was pictured in Volume IV and is featured on the cover.

See what happens when you buy too many books, you don't know which is which. Very impressive lid.

Bob--I don't recall seeing the NSKK Wartime Visor--that is one rare, (and beguiling) cap--those are my favorite pieces of NSKK headgear, but then again, I am biased in favor of visors.

Can you post a pic of the interior of the Von Epp kepi? And, do you have any other of his effects?

I meant to add this picture--it is an officer of the MS School, and is one of my favorite examples of TR headgear--I have never seen one of this style in any collection--talk about a peak like Mt. Everest!
