    SS Winter Cap

This cap has been in my buddys collection for about 10 years now. It's made of sometype of animal hair and the only mark is the size 60 as seen in the pics. The skull looks like it's been there a while, but I'm not sure of originality (I don't collect SS), and we have not removed it to look behind it. This hat reminds me of something used on the eastern front and is definitely not your typical cold weather cap. This thing is defintely old and has lots of character to it, I like it. Have a look!

p.s. I'm also going to be posting an SS overseas cap that he got from the same dealer about 10 years ago

So many variants of these winter fur caps, from occupied countries. I have seen alot of different styles, but not this type. Inside almost looks Russian.
But blue tie strings, I guess its possible.
Nice SS OS Cap by the way.
                Regards,
                Gary

I'm sorry to say that the skull is a fake.
                  Original Assmann to compare with.

I was thinking that to, but I didn't know enough about SS to verify that. I really do like the cap. Definitely old and I'm thinking East Front.

The trikot (gabardine) material on the cap body looks Finnish in color, not coarse wool Russian, so perhaps a private purchase Finnish officer's cap?
