OK Strurm, I was wrong with extra holes, was refering to another visor...sorry.
Maybe the white sponge was on use only with white tops, would make some sense.
Velvet I agree is right, also stitching to visor and sweatband look correct.
Got confused with another visor This visor looks alright from pics provided, wouldnt mind having it in my collection. Traded off my last white top a few years ago, Flak enlisted, very stupid mistake.
      Regards,
      Gary

Sorry Xavier ,but IMO is not a good Erel. The sweatband is not a erel made but like pekuro.the way of stitchin is not original to erel and in my opinion also the logo"EREL" is not original .
If you want to be sure you must wait for Nick or Dave came back from SOS.

Hi Xavier, I believe that the cap top and cap bottom are real items. i just do not think that they are of the same same parentage, so to speak.

The top part is Robert Lubstein, the bottom part conforms to no known Robert Lubstein design. The item on the other thread is sufffering from the same issues. Are they the same visor or two different ones.

The problem with white top caps is unless they are of rigid construction, the sheer nature of the removable top means that the base can be mated with a cover from any maker as long as it is the right size.

I have seen plenty of Robert Lubstein Luftwaffe white top visors that all conform to the accepted norm. This base is not one that I believe to be a Lubstein manufactured item.

The amount of mint white top caps is also a concern, as these pieces are 60 odd years old. No age dirt to a huge number of these white tops.

I steer clear of these caps as too many are buggered with.

I hope your see my point on this. I am trying to base my opinion on a factual basis. regards JT

Carlo, this erel white cap top may or may not support your view

This is being sold as shown. Similiar to the one on this thread?

Original Luft summer visors are more rare than many people think. The cap in discussion is not a ww2 production.

I'm not the Erel expert--I leave that to Nick and Dave--I would guess that the white-top is genuine, but did not originally come with the cap body.
The velvet stirndruckfrei feature on this is not Pekuro's either. Hand stitching of the leather to the body is also uncommon, but does not automatically disqualify it, either--we need to see under the leather sweatband. Did you do the usual tests? (black lite, burn test, etc)

Well thank you. I have one question before I give any opinion. I have seen a few Erel white tops. As far as I have seen there are two types construction wise (at least as far as I have seen). Is this the type that the sweat shield and lining are part of the top itself or the type that the lining stays with the base when the top is removed? I seen a very interesting piece a few months ago that could be pertinent to this one.

That's a good point Nick, I'd like to see the top and bottom parted, for further investigation.

I just looked at a few pics of some Erel white tops I have that are the type that the top itself contains the upper lining and the shied. They appear to be a different texture and look a bit different than this one. I think this is the type with the full lining contained on the base. If we can see the top removed I am sure we will have answers.

                          thank you for your comments;

now that the experts returned of the S.O.S , I would like to have a conclusion concerning this cap .

                          kind regards

Hi Xavier, why don't you post some pics with the white top removed?
                            Cheers
