Hi gents,
I just picked up this belt, but it's a bit of a mystery to me. The colour is a very very deep brown (almost black depending on the light), although on the rear the leather is a more normal brown colour, suggesting that the belt might have been blackened?
It has no markings that I can discern apart from a 'C' on the belt itself just behind the buckle. Length is 105cm and width is about 42-43mm.
When I received it it had a very pungent barn-like odour which it still retains, though it is lessening. It clearly has plenty of use and age to it. Anyone have any tips regarding the smell?
Anyway, I was wondering if anybody might be able to tell me if this is wartime issue or not, and whether or not this is a Heer officers belt? Or some postwar police or something? I know it isn't East German. This one has me confused...
Thanks in advance!
FranzJoseph
