You all know (I hope) that since 1997/1998 several SS EM buckles in aluminum are reproduced in East Europe. These are called comonly "CZ fakes". The most notorious is the one duplicating the Overhoff marked RZM 36/40 SS, but there is also in great quantity some marked RZM 822/38 SS and RZM 822/37 SS.
Few months ago, I brought to light one less known but still present on the market which is marked RZM 155/39 SS.
Like the others, it is also cast from an original (an original Assmann made buckle in this instance) and will fool more than one collector. Well, yesterday I found out there is also reproduced the one marked RZM 155/40 SS (please do not make confusion with the STEEL version which is also reproduced but with the wrong die). I am talking here about the ALUMINUM marked RZM 155/40 SS. And a full box was offered for sale in a show (and sold) !!
So, even if few markings are remaining unknown to be reproduced, it does not mean they are not ! It is maybe just because none was reported yet. So, be really vigilent and do not believe you will never be fool by one of them. If your interest goes toward SS Buckles and you are buying some from time to time, I will never stress enough to do your homework first.
For the SS Officer buckles, keep in mind that the one marked 36/40 is also reproduced as well since 2000 but was seldom seen for sale until recently. This time is over now and this killer fake buckle (the best made IMHO) is offered for sale at a lot of different places for big bucks most of the time. Here again, do your homework or you will be burn, I can guarantee.
