Traces of file on HJ nickel ?

    Hello,
Who can say to me why there are two traces of file on every side of the mark RZM KH28 ?
It was the site of another manufacture’s marks ?
    Thank you for your answers
    Regards,
    François.

Hi,It doesn't look like file marks to me,I think it is honest wear from the rivits used to hold the clip on the belt.Jay Parisi

no question about it..they ARE file marks!!! I do believe this buckle started life as an assmann buckle ... I have a few buckles like this , some where you can still see traces of assmann's logos which were ground and re-stamped with another firms marks...my two cents.... is that assmann was a manufacturer , and some of the other companies we are familiar with ..ie KH28= Paulmann & Crone... who may have manufactured, and at times purchased buckles from others to fill their own orders.... the real question is if the manufacturers we know are wholesaler/retailers or manufacturers....RZM marks were issued to both... these buckles are an anomaly just as the buckles marked by 2 makers (assmann/ overhoff) ... I have already posted a thread in the past about ground off marks, the thread has pictures of multiple buckles of mine which have been ground and re-stamped just like yours..here is the link http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ight=hj+ground
I think your buckle is VERY special , I have seen but a handful of buckles like this..and I think that there are still many questions to be answered about this issue Chad

          Hello Chad,
Thank you very much for this hypothesis. It’s true that Paulmann & Crone have purchased buckles from others to fill their own orders. You are on the good track !

Thank also Jayp, the rivits was an idea, but the marks are not superficial, it’s really file marks.

          François.
