kleines kettenkrad's whells found in Normandy

Hi everyone

This Week I have found thesse two whells from a very Rare SDKFZ 2/2 KLEINES KETTENKRAD used to carry german thread.

These whells are in very good condition and intouched since 1944.
I have found these wheels in barn in Tinchebray (Normandy)

Agreed a very nice find but "rare" there is nothing particularly rare about a Kettenkrad, the one I owned could be considered to have a certain amount of rarity as it is 95% original and 1941. But of and in itself a Kettenkrad is not particularly rare there were 28 at Militracks four years ago and Kevin Wheatcroft has 17!

It's not a ''classic'' kettenkrad this is another version of the kettenkrad.

As you can see on trhese two pictures the wheels are different ( 6 bars on classic model and 8 bars on the kettenkrad 2/2)

nice find indeed , but you say they haven't been used since 1944.....thats not entirely correct I' m afraid.
looking at the rubber rims they have only half the thickness of what they should have got when still untouched. So the farmer made well usage of these wheels on one of his makeshift carts he made with it .
what is your total diameter now? and can you make an top view pic of a wheel to see the width please.

Yes the wheels were used by the farmer but the bearings were notre move since the endroit if the War.
The wheels are 46cm
