    Unknown Instrument Panel - Steyr?

    Hey guys....

    Picked this up recently....

Looks a lot like a Steyr Truck instrument panel...but not really sure.

Switches and instrumentation show it is for a Diesel engine...

    Thoughts?

    TIA

    Hello Mike,

I don't know for which one but it is for a vehicle with diesel engine.

Ja...that is what I mentioned above.

It has a switch and indicator for Glow Plugs...so 100% a Diesel Engine.

Sorry, I was so in the details of this, I haven't read the whole text

          Well...

Looking carefully at the back, "Henschel" is inscribed...

          Sooooooo...

Appears to be from a Henschel Diesel Truck.

My "feeling" is that it is from the late 1940's...as some of the instruments have "importe d'allemand"

Any further ideas? I am having a hard time finding interior shots of any Henschel trucks...

Importe... is a typical text form prewar and wartime German parts. I think the Germans were forced to mark their production that way after the WW1. Could be also from after the WW2, of course. But it is very often found on 1930s parts, even on military machines.

              Hey guys!

Any further thoughts on this? I cannot find ANY decent pics of Henschel truck interiors...

              Thoughts or ideas?

              TIA

Try Borgward of some flavour. Found this pic of a Borgward 4500 (postwar) and it seems to match your panel pretty closely in shape and layout.

                  mmmmmmmmmm....INTERESTING!

"Henschel" is written on the back...but I think you are on to something.

The Bogward B3000 panel is also similar.

Hold on chaps this is a tricky one - the thing that looks like a pepper pot to the right of the speedo is a glow plug indicator and that is for a diesel engine vehicle! I think that this is post war and quite possibly from a Merc.

Yes, this is for a Diesel engine...

Panel could be wartime with post-war instruments...maybe...

On the postwar instruments: Germany introduced a law making tachographs compulsory at the end of '52:
                        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tachog....28historic.29

So, trucks in commercial servce after '52 would have a tachograph integrated into the speedometer, as you can see on the blue panel I posted.
