What do you mean with "it should be from german panzer"? It looks like a normal clock, not like an panel instrument to me...

Was it looted? Or someone was just storing stuff in a tank? Although that doesn't seem likely.

          Interesting story though...

There were no clocks in german tanks.

Standard "Stationsuhr" minus its original housing in rough condition. The wooden housing has been home-made after the war. Read about these clocks here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ight=funkeruhr

Not typically found in Panzers though....

              regards,

These mantel clocks were very popular...my Aunt had one...hers chimed.

Her's was very similar to this one:

And yours has a very similar shape...but I'm guessing it's smaller and doesn't chime.

If you like it, it might be worth 'restoring'. You'd have to take it to someone who fixes clocks and find out if it's worth pursuing.

I have a couple of antique mantel clocks as well (different housing)...but we opted just to have them for decoration...you have to wind them daily and I just can't be bothered to do that. I need to simplify my mornings...not add more chores...lol...

Also..."heeriseigenentum"...means belonging to the army...but was used on 'non-military' items too...but that's all I know about that...
