I have a 1944 Schwimmwagen which is fitted (incorrectly) with a rare early Schraubenantrieb (Propeller Assembly) from a very late 1942 or early 1943 Schwimmwagen.
Here's a photo from the "Volkswagen Kübelwagen & Schwimmwagen at War" book by Schiffer showing the early Schraubenantrieb...
Here's a photo of the Schraubenantrieb fitted to my Schwimmwagen...
Here are a few observation that these are the same style of early Schraubenantrieb...
Consequently I am looking for the correct style Gehäuse and Lagerplatte to complete the restoration of my vehicle's Schraubenantrieb, which is cast aluminium (the Gehäuse having cast numbers and a KDF logo).
The part numbers in the Schwimmwagen Ersatzteilliste (April 1943) are;
Tafel 22/1: Gehäuse
Tafel 22/10: Lagerplatte für Schraubenantrieb
So, is there anyone who has a very late 1942 or early 1943 Schwimmwagen which has the incorrect Schraubenantrieb fitted to their vehicle and would like to swap, part-exchange or sell their Gehäuse or Schraubenantrieb for an original early Schraubenantrieb???
The Gehäuse is stamped "158" which (could) identify the vehicle as 166/158, as the early vehicles has their number painted on the front wing of the vehicle.
Best regards,
Schwimmer

- Raised lip instead of second locating dowel within the Gehäuse/Gehäusedeckel
- No cast number or logo on the Gehäuse/Gehäusedeckel
- Brackets on the Lagerplatte für Schraubenantrieb (Tafel 22/10) under the Schraubenantrieb
- Abdeckblech fur Wasserschraube with hole instead of lug
- Schutzring with 2 securing brackets
- The Schutzring secured to the inside of the Abdeckblech fur Wasserschraube (and not the outside)
- Additional (spare?) cog on the inside of the engine compartment for the Schraubenantrieb
