"White" Wrapper StuG / Panzer Photo...

I thought that Stug / Panzer Cloth (and Photo) collectors would appreciate viewing this somewhat unique photo that used to be in my collection.

The photo itself was not dated or marked in any way. If I remember correctly, it was on "Agfa" paper. The "lines" and little "white splatters" on the photo itself were due to a poor scanner - the photo itself was (and no doubt still is) crystal clear (Note that the collars tabs themsleves are backed in white).

I know that one or two Panzer fellows out there have some excellent information concerning the history / background of these "White" Wrappers, and their contributions to this thread (if they choose to do so), would be very much appreciated.

Very interesting and never seen, thanks for sharing!
I do not want to think a white jacket becomes after a week in a Panzer
        Thanks again!

Stunning Photo, I would say these wrappers are white, Just like the Building in the back ground on the opening photo.

In Bob Edwards/Mike Pruett's book "Field Uniforms of German Army Panzer Forces in World War 2" on page 39 they show a feldwebel wearing a white panzer denim outfit, 1st pattern jacket and 2nd pattern trousers.

The Wrappers are clearly unmistakably white, not grey.

As I mentioned at the start of this thread, there's two or three collectors (but especially one specific fellow) here on the WAF that have excellent, original information conecerning the testing and official introduction of these White Panzer / Stug Wrappers. If those fellows are reading this (and I'm sure they know who they are), it would be great to hear from them.

They are most certainly white... NOT gray.

In 30 years of collecting, I have never seen these before, or even heard of them. What is the story on the "white wrapper"? Were these for dress only? Private purchase or issue? Wool or cotton blend? Was there headgear to match?

I myself do not know enough about them to make accurate and factual statements, but I do know that these were officially sanctioned and issued on a "test" basis for summer (possibly also winter) use. As for the issue date(s), testing criteria, etc., I just do not have access to that type of information.

Interestingly, very, very few Panzer Uniform publications make mention of these "White" Wrappers, and if they do, the information given on them is minimal (and in some cases quite questionable).

Again, without naming names, it would be great to hear from a couple of specific Panzer collectors that are members here on the WAF so they can share their knowledge in regards to these "White" StuG / Panzer Wrappers.

*** Could you just imagine the uproar that something like this would cause if Grampa Baumgartner brought this into the MAX folded under his arm ????

The following "White" Panzer Wrapper Photos, along with the Wehrpass, were sent to me by an friend of mine who has approved of me posting them here. The exact Black Wrapper in the Wehrpass photo is in the possession of the current owner along with the Wehrpass itself (unfortunately the "White" Wrapper is not), both direct purchases from the Panzer vet (note how in the first photo the Panzerman re-positioned the skulls on his tabs to a more "user friendly" position).

*** Note also the "White" (matching) Panzer Pants.....
