      Gentlemen,

      The latest addition to my Panzer collection:

      it's just arrived, so a bit dirty and looks bad, but still has some original paint on it.

          At request of another member, the wooden base for the jack is 30x30x10cm.

                Yes,
                wood:
                -first brush dirt off;
                -then wash with turpentine;
                -after soak with 1/5 linseed oil in turpentine, to protect the wood
                -last polish a bit of wax, as a final touch.

                I might fill in the holes with wood white glue, not sure.

                Metal:
                -clean rust off with some soft metal sponge
                -protect with a bit of wax or oil

                  Nice find ! I would like to get one !

                  Restoration: of course it's yours but I would not use linseed oil and wax. This will not look like it was in 1943... Brushing and cleaning. And neutral fungicide stuff as protective treatment.
                  Your method will give a glossy effect to it.

                  Cheers

                    Hello Eric,

                    I couldn't believe it when I saw it I was lucky enough to get it

                    You're right! The linseed and wax is what I use when restoring old countryside furniture...Would dipping it in diesel give it a good used look? I will take note of the fungicide tip, thanks.

                        Hi !
                        And where did you find it ?

                        Diesel would be good... to clean it and protect but it will smell for a long time... if you dip the block into

                        I am a german WWII crate collector and the fungicide is the best not alter wood color when it is factory new !

                        Cheers

                          Ebay!!! That simple!! Sometimes you can find nice things there

                          Yes. I can imagine but it might also kill any woodworm (If still alive).
